TEACHING

  • As a teacher, Dr. Ledbetter believes fully in the commitment made by both teacher and student.  Out of mutual respect grows the safe haven of the learning environment.  And only in this kind of setting can there be truth and music.

  • Honored to be named the "Phyllis Young Outstanding Studio Teacher of 2016" by the Texas Chapter of the American String Teachers Association, Dr. Ledbetter believes that the growth of the musical soul and spirit takes time and nurturing.  "To be entrusted with such care and feeding is a gift beyond measure."

  • "I am so proud of all of my students.  They have maturity, wisdom, eagerness, talent, and humor.  It takes all of these things to succeed as a teacher and as a performer."

  • Well-versed in all types of pedagogy, Dr. Ledbetter believes in a mix of traditional and experimental teaching/learning.  Scales and technical studies are a necessary part, but so is the exploration of the vast violin repertoire that makes up violin literature.

  • Whether the student is pre-college, college, or post-college, Dr. Ledbetter brings to her teaching an energy and a collective knowledge of all that is violin.

  • She is comfortable working with any age student.
